Hawaii Shark Encounters
Depart Haleiwa Harbor on Hawaii Shark Encounters Vessel the "Kainani". After a 15 minute, 3 mile ride, you arrive at the shark grounds. The sound of the Kainani’s engine draws the sharks to the surface. The sharks almost never fail to pay you a visit. In fact, their presence is so consistent that if you don’t see a shark, you don’t pay! On all the Hawaii shark cage diving tours you will see sharks. North shore shark adventures and Hawaii Shark encounters offer close up "views" of Hawaii sharks. This is one of the most popular Hawaii tours and Hawaii activities in Oahu. Hawaii Shark Encounters are a daily thing when you go on one of the Hawaii Shark Encounters and go on one of the Hawaii shark cage diving tours. On these North shore shark adventures you are not actually diving, but snorkeling in the cage. The cage for the Hawaii shark cage diving tours have plexiglass on 2 sides and "cage" on the other 2 sides. This gives you the chance to come nose to nose on one of your Hawaii shark encounters.
When the first shark arrives, it signals the time for the first "victims" to get in the cage. The water is about 400 feet deep and as clear and blue as the open ocean. Just getting in is a bit of a thrill on these Hawaii tours and Hawaii activities. Once in the cage, the big plexiglass windows are nearly transparent. When a 10 foot long Galapagos shark presses his nose against the glass, it looks like he is coming right on in. This is the great part of one of the North Shore Shark Adventures. When you come to see sharks in Hawaii, there is no better way than on one of the Hawaii Shark tours. In fact, press your nose against the glass, and you will be just one quarter of an inch away from the business end of one big shark! Not to worry though, he’s not getting in!
In addition to the Galapagos sharks, Sandbar sharks are other common visitors. Both of these sharks are very curious, completely unafraid and come very close to the cage. You may see as many as 30 sharks on one of the Hawaii shark cage diving tours.
